ABOUT ME
MEET YOUR THERAPIST
My name is Alison Goolnik.
I am an integrative trained psychotherapist and counsellor and my approach draws mainly on psychodynamic, humanistic and cognitive behavioural therapy principles. Everyone is different so I adapt the approach to suit you and benefit you. What is key is for us to build a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship.
My clinical experience spans a wide range of settings, including private practice, hospitals, educational institutions and voluntary services. I have worked with children, young people and adults, supporting clients with a broad range of difficulties such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma and relational challenges.
In my private practice, I offer both short and long-term psychotherapy and counselling to individuals of all ages, specialising in working with young adults. Sessions are available face-to-face or online.
Alongside my private work, I provide short-term counselling for young adults aged 18–25 through The Mix, an online support service.
I have been on placements as an honorary psychotherapist at Guy’s Hospital (The Munro Centre), where I provided Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) to adults experiencing complex difficulties, including personality disorders and as a counsellor at Kensington and Chelsea College offering short-term support to students.
My clinical experience has also included working with the charity Place2Be in a primary school setting, supporting vulnerable children through talking, play and creative therapeutic work. I have also worked on a children’s helpline, providing emotional support to both children and adults across a wide range of concerns.
With a background as a Chartered Accountant, I also bring an understanding of the pressures associated with corporate and high-stress environments. I support clients in navigating work-related challenges, burnout and the emotional demands of professional life.

Alison Goolnik.
